About Me

I'm a twenty-six year old London-based artist, born in Manchester. My portraits are an interpretation of working class culture in Manchester and an attempt to capture moments and find art in day-to-day life. I also work in the publishing industry and am a writer, with my debut novel Dead Lucky publishing in 2025. My artwork has been exhibited at galleries in London & Barcelona.

My Story

I was born in Levenshulme, a suburb of Manchester, and have been fascinated by the people and culture of the city since I started painting in high school. My work aims to be a representation of this culture, evolving around the pubs, betting shops and streets I know best and the people I have met along the way. I have a fascination with the every day, the mundanity and bleak reality of tasks or forms of entertainment we use for escapism. I hope to capture expressions, actions or snapshots of life that are otherwise overseen or disregarded. By placing a lens on the silent moments in life - whether it's a pint after work, a bet on the weekend's football, or an alone moment of contemplation - I try to make my art relatable, emotive and thought-provoking as well as experimental through different techniques and materials.

The majority of my portraits are acrylic on canvas, capturing a range of expressions and settings in pubs, betting shops or living rooms. I also work on used or unused betting slips, beer mats, newspapers and other materials relating to the characters or actions depicted in the painting. Using these materials offers more depth and background to the subjects, giving viewers a more three dimensional viewpoint on who they are, what they're like and what interests them.

The main reason for my art is enjoyment and expression. I love painting people that interest me and sharing moments of modern day life in Britain. With everything in my work, there is an ambition to turn the unseen into art, to present cultural identities and challenge stereotypes.
